The NTV variety show The God of Entertainment (Enta no Kamisama, エンタの神様) is coming to an end after a seven-year run. The show premiered in April 2003 and will be taken off the air at the end of March 2010.
Comedians of all styles do a skit on this weekly one hour show. The show is very well known for helping begin the careers of many popular comedians such as: Oriental Radio, Sakurazaka Yak-kun, Tomochika, Jinnai Takanori.
At one point, the show enjoyed ratings close to 20%, but in recent years it has faced increasing competition from other comedy-focused shows on rival networks.
NTV will launch a new show for the Saturday 10:00pm time slot starting in April, but the network said that the details have not yet been decided.
