1 04 2010

From “girl group” to “cute princess”, then stepping into “half mature lady”, before finally becoming a “woman waiting for love”, it has already been 10 years since Rainie Yang entered showbiz. This year is her 5th as a solo artist, and with the opportunity to have a concert in Taiwan, her career is progressing quite smoothly. However, her love life has been quite empty. Seeing her good friend Isabella Leong with a blissful married life, Rainie wishes her happiness, but at the same time isn’t jealous. “My happiness comes from performing onstage, and being loved by my fans.”

10 years ago, Rainie was a member of the four girl group 4 in Love, and after they disbanded and went their various ways, Rainie started her solo career 5 years ago. Entering her fifth year this year, Rainie will be having her first ever paid show in Taiwan. Previously, Taiwanese artists had to give free performances, but because of a large market, it was considered a promotional fee to perform. Read the rest of this entry »

Celebrity of the Day: Inoue Mao

27 01 2010

Plenty of people have seen the extremely popular Japanese drama, Hana Yori Dango. The pretty Inoue Mao (井上 真央), born January 9, 1987, was the main actress of the drama. She has been acting for a long time, starring in small roles ever since the young age of five. But it was in 1999 in the drama, Kids War (キッズ・ウォー ~ざけんなよ~) that audiences began to really take notice of the rising star.

In 2005, Mao dominated the screens with Hana Yori Dango (花より男子) where she starred as Makino Tsukushi (牧野 つくし) alongside the band, Arashi’s, member Matsumoto Jun (松本 潤). The drama was hugely successful (note: see JDrama section for Ratings & Review) and the sequel, Hana Yori Dango Returns (花より男子 ~リターンズ~) aired in 2007 under great anticipation.

Mao enrolled in Meiji University at the age of 19 where she studied theater and literature. Her Read the rest of this entry »

The latest Shuukan Josei reports that Arashi member Ninomiya Kazunari (二宮 和也) and Nodame Cantabile actress Mizukawa Asami (水川 あさみ) went out for a meal together at a nabe restaurant in Shibuya. While Ninomiya is rumoured to be dating Nagasawa Masami (長澤 まさみ), many speculate it was done behind her back, or that he was seeing both of them at the same time. However, it’s said that Ninomiya and Mizukawa became good friends after collaborating together in Abunai Hokago back in 1999. Mizukawa also collaborated with Nagasawa in the 2008 drama Last Friends. So perhaps it was entirely a friendly outing.
