News: Taiwanese Stars Head to India for World Vision

World Vision Taiwan spokespeople, actress and actors Sylvia Chang, Mike He, Joe Cheng headed on a plane to visit a Taiwan funded program for poor children in India. Sylvia Chang plans to raise money for a school for these children. Joe Cheng and Mike He will be preparing nutritious food for them so that they will grow up healthily.

Five years ago, Sylvia Chang was in India for an interview. A girl named Nitya told her that she was afraid of going out to school. So Sylvia helped pay for Nitya’s study, medical and basic expenses and warmly encouraged the girl to go to school. Nitya then had the chance to go to school and introduce herself to new friends.

With tears in her eyes, Sylvia said: “Even though Nitya passed away not long ago, she had the chance to experience love and being loved in her short life. This is a privilege all children should be entitled to!”

Celebrity of the Day: Ariel Lin

Ariel Lin (林依晨) was born in Taipei on October 29, 1982. She is amongst the most prominent Taiwanese actresses of today and also debuted as a singer. Not only that, she also released two books: ‘Ariel Lin’s New York Bagel Diary (林依晨的紐約貝果日記)’ and ‘Ariel’s Blog (林家女孩依晨的青春部落格)’.

Her first drama was ‘True Love 18 (十八歲的約定)’ in 2002. After, she acted in a variety of shows. Her big break came in 2004 when she starred alongside Mike He (賀軍翔) in the hit drama ‘Love Contract (愛情合約).

But Ariel’s biggest hit came the year after, in 2005 when she starred in the Taiwanese drama, ‘It Started With a Kiss (惡作劇之吻)’ with Joe Cheng (鄭元暢). The drama met with wild reviews and helped her rise to fame. The two later co-starred again in the drama’s sequel: ‘They Kiss Again (惡作劇2吻)’ as well as another drama: ‘Love or Bread (我的億萬麵包)’.

Why Why Love (換換愛)

Summary: Tong Jia Di is a hardworking girl that needs a social life other than studying, working multiple jobs, and trying to pay off her family’s huge pile of debts. So, her friend, Jiang Xiao Nan, puts a love exchange coupon in the raffle box, trying to have her “exchange” love with the next guy that draws it. Huo Yan, the handsome executive of the Huo industry accidentally draws the raffle, and even though no love is exchanged, he is left with a deep impression of Jia Di. Enter Huo Da, Huo Yan’s younger brother. Huo Da is a delinquent that refuses to attend his University classes and prefers racing his motorbike to looking after the family business. He also draws out a raffle ticket, the Angel/Master ticket, which entitles him to a whole week of Jia Di bending to his every will. Things get a lot more complicated when both brothers begin pursuing Jia Di. Starring Rainie Yang (杨丞琳), Mike He (賀軍翔), Kingone Wang (王傳一), Judy Fukumoto.

Celebrity of the Day: Rainie Yang

Rainie was born Yáng Chénglín (楊丞琳) in Taiwan. She first debuted in the entertainment industry as a member of the girl group, 4 in Love. There, all the girls were assigned names with references to weather. The group achieved mediocre success and disbanded in 2002. Yang continued pursuing a career in the industry, hosting television shows (such as ‘Guess Guess Guess’).

Her big break came when she starred in the hit CTV drama, Devil Beside You (惡魔在身邊), in 2005. The same year, she also released her first album, My Intuition (曖昧) which included two songs from the TV drama.The album achieved a high level of success and created a record of being the only debut album in the Chinese music industry to reach platinum status.
